What is tantra?
It is very easy to define Tantra. The practice and study of Tantra affirms the energetic qualities of the human being, The Tao Te Ching asserts, "One's true self is eternal, and yet the thought prevails, 'I am this body, I will soon die'. This false sense of self is the cause of all sorrow."
The true nature of being, indeed the universe, is energy. Einstein's famed equation E=mc2, may very well indicate that we are 34.5 billion times more energy than matter. Consider that the particles in the material world, atoms and sub atomic particles, are very, very small, with lots of space surrounding each tiny particle. It is energy that moves these particles around in the space so that we appear solid.
The new physics, that of quantum mechanics, defines the world in terms of energy and space with a small number of particles moving at unfathom,able speeds. This i the phenomenon that we experience as solid matter. Tantra acknowledges the energetic aspect of existence and enables us to see the world from a more realistic perspective.
why all the confusion?
The confusion surrounding Tantra is mainly caused by misunderstanding of the energy in the universe. When one discussed energy, most people are confused, they believe themselves to be mostly matter with a limited amount of energy to perform daily tasks. This is so far from the truth.

God is the life energy generated by the sentient being. There is no being in a hevanly realm with angels; just like there is no Santa Clause on the North Plot with the elves. This philosophy is both barbaric and backwards, idolatrous and inane.
Failure to recognize god as the life energy relieves us all of the responsibility f maintaining the earth as heaven an has started a process that could veyr well trun this earth into a hell, even with the heat and eternal fires that typify our iconography.
This is why Krishnamurti would state something as gogent as "violence is submission to authority"
The Tao Te Ching states that modifying the expresion of this energy is violent.
